Nick
Schade displayed a full range of his creatively decorated stripper
designs, featuring contrasting wood inlays on sleek high performance
hulls. His inventory of eight designs ranged from the 11'x28"
little Auk to the 25 1/2'x21" Guillemot Fast Double. Nick
builds to order, sells buiding plans, and kits of his designs
are available through Newfound Woodwords.

Adjacent
to Nick's display was a special design Nick had done, a 25'
long double, the Double Helix, built by Clark Eid. Clark decorated
his boat with a rose vine pattern that wound around it in the
double helix pattern of a DNA strand. The boat, paddled by Clark
and his partner Kurt Zimmermann, is to be entered in to The
Great Mississippi River Riace for Restt Syndrome in May of 2001.
Clark's daughter, Amanda, is afflicted with this devastating
disease which affects thousands of little girls and young women,
and so Clark is not only taking part in this fund raising effort
for bio-medical research in this disease, but is also working
on organizing the event. That'll be a 2,348 mile non-stop ultra
marathon!
